Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the importance of social relations (social capital) and cultural values (cultural capital) in local development. It defines and describes the major assumptions and sources of improvement of life in our towns and villages in theory. It also presents applied approaches for the use of social and cultural capital in local development – community development and heritage interpretation.
