Summary/Abstract: The projects about the post-war state system in Europe and in the world in general of two of the main countries from the anti-Hitler coalition – USSR and USA, are presented in the article. The focus is on their position concerning Bulgaria’s fate. The differences between the long-term, mid-term and short-term plans of the two powerful countries are analysed. The author shows how these differences fuel the confrontation between Moscow and Washington after the end of the war and become a part of the process of turning the Soviet-American war-time union into the exact opposite after the piece – into a Cold war between the two powerful countries.
