Summary/Abstract: New statements of fundamental importance on the subject of "Soldier and Military Technology" are contained in the up-to-now neglected collective work of the Military History Institute, completed un-der the leadership of S. A. Tjuschkewich, at the General Staff of the USSR; some essential passages from the book, published at the beginning of 1979, are presented at the beginning of this documenta-tion. The authors of the second and third documents, Dementyev and Milovidov, are active in the So-viet armed forces in various fields: Major General Professor Milovidov is a military theoretician and deals primarily with purely military problems, Colonel-General Dementyev, member of the Military Council and Chief Political Director of the Kiev defensive district, is a military political official. It is worth noting how Milovidov seeks to bridge contradictions in the party-political and military views on the possibilities of using technology for military purposes.
