State-Religion Relations in the Context of the Sultan- Tariqa Relations in the Era of Bayezid II

Summary/Abstract: It’s known that Ottoman sultans had strict relationship with sufis . However, the relation of some had remarkable compare to others. II. Bayezid, the veli-like Saint-, for example, was fond of mystic way of Islam, as far as understood. On the other hands, there was a problem to solve; Was Bayezid’s affiliation with Şeyhs-saints- or sufis pave the way of political gaming area for him or not? This article search for the connection of sultans political maneuver with his friendship to the sufis.
