Information literacy and the role of the libraries in IT

Summary/Abstract: The introductory section will talk about information literacy and its importance in contemporary society.The work will provide insight into the IL options of The Cantonal and University Library Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina and its contribution to information literacy of users, and resources that underpin its work. It will consider possible roles of public libraries, but also the importance and contribution of school libraries in familiarization with modern technologies. Information literacy, as literacy in 21st century, a component of primary and secondary legislation, and will be presented in the paper. The abstract will reflect the contribution of public libraries as a public institution en route to a knowledge society.
