Summary/Abstract: Lawyers writing about insider trading often reproduce the assumption that this phenomenon prevents the development of the stock exchange. The author takes on the workshop the assumption, whether the stock market actually cannot develop in the presence of insider trading. The examples of the US and China show that the use of confidential information and the development of exchanges are poorly correlated with each other.
