Summary/Abstract: The main line of argumentation in the present paper upholds de Beaugrande and Dressler’s claim that, while working with a text, every text processor creates mentally a textual world which may also be signalled linguistically. The paper synchronizes that conviction with Werth’s claim of the existence of two types of worlds: text worlds and discourse worlds. Finally, the paper demonstrates the potential of applying the cognitive principle of profiling to the analysis of those two types of worlds by providing evidence of their dynamic figure background operation.
