Summary/Abstract: The article considers problems of word formation. It concentrates on the model with formant -an/-jan in Ukrainian and Bulgarian derivation. The aim of the analysis is to find out the differences in the derivational meaning of the given suffix and to formulate its specificity in the word-formation systems compared.
