Summary/Abstract: Analyzing literary creation of the title 4 sobe gospođe Safije, the authors try to establish its authenticity and autochthony through narrative elements and correspondence with the form of legend. The experiential aspect of this story/legend inflenced the name of a restaurant in Sarajevo, serving as its proof of autochthony and a stimulus to tradition. The stated story is brought into connection and analyzed comparatively with the story on the catering establishment Lutvina kahva featured in Ivo Andrić's novel Travnička hronika. The story 4 sobe gospođe Safije is not the only case of interference between legend and story. There are other examples in literature wherein folk tradition was incorporated in a literary text and persisted to become rooted in contemporary society as a part of cultural and traditional heritage.
