Summary/Abstract: The First Berlin Summer School in Lithuanian Studies, organized by Dr. Christiane Schiller, together with Dr. Anna Helene Feulner and Dr. Eugen Hill, was held at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in the period 10.–14. September 2012. The Summer School was part of a larger initiative, the so-called “Tage der Lituanistik” (“Days of Lithuanian Studies”), organized at the Humboldt-Universität in the period 27. August– 14. September. The first part of this initiative was a two week intensive course of modern Lithuanian for beginners (27. August–7. September), where some of the participants in the following Summer School had their first chance to get acquainted with the Lithuanian language. The whole initiative was part of the program “Lithuanian here and there: language, science, culture and society – Lietuva čia ir ten: kalba, mokslas, kultūra, visuomenė,” funded by the European Union (the Summer School, as well as the Lithuanian course, were free of charge for the participants).
