Summary/Abstract: The text studies some linguistic theories that have indirectly reflected “Arrival” movie in 2016. Through the prism of semantic primitives, the theory of linguistic relativity and the linguistic picture of the world in the film is presented the idea of the power of language that changes fate and builds reality. The author faces the following questions: Can the language we use change our world and the world of the people around us? Is language a gift, a tool, or a weapon? Which one of these three meanings proposed by Hollywood would we choose to apply in life?
