Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses certain elements of different cultures, of the East and West, integrated in the literary work of Ivo Andrić. Although Andrić's literary view of the historical basis that the relationship between the two cultures is built on was most frequently focused on pointing to conflicts that had separated them for centuries, the origin of some of the key narrative, artistic and worldview principles found in his literary opus is located in these two very sources, differing both in traditional cultural and in literary terms.
