Summary/Abstract: Jews in the Romanian Parliament. The Jewish Parliamentary Club. In the autumn of 1928, the setting up of the Jewish Parliamentary Club, a landmark in the subsequent evolution of Jewish political life, led to a more organized activity dedicated to the defense of Jewish rights and interests. The "Group of Four", following the ideological directions of its founders, consistently militated for the acknowledgement of the Jews' status as ethnic minority and for the granting of their rights. Religion, school, autonomy of the Jewish communities were topics that generated fierce debates in the Romanian Parliament with the rise of a new Jewish political elite, much more active and intransigent.
