Summary/Abstract: The paper offers a resolution of disagreements that exist in the literature concerning the date when prominent Serbian educationalist of the first half of the 18th century Dionisije Novaković (c. 1705–1767) delivered his Speech on the Reputation and Usefulness of Liberal Sciences. The dating in previous researches rang from 1737 to 1744. It is very important to know when this work was created because it has a peculiar position in the history of Modern-Age Serbian literature as the first Serbian academic speech and manifesto of 18th century Serbian education.
