Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the etymology and developmental peculiarities of the Polonisms (59) and their morpho-phonetic alternatives and secondary derivatives (24), which are used in the poetic works (poem The Seasons [Lithuanian: Metai], an early fragment of The Seasons – “Pričkus’ Tale about a Lithuanian Wedding” [Lithuanian: „Pričkaus pasaka apie lietuvišką svodbą“] and six fables The “Braggart Oak” [Lithuanian: „Aužuols gyrpelnys“], “The Fox’s and the Stork’s Feast” [Lithuanian: „Lapės ir gandro česnis“], “Fable of the Dung Beetle” [Lithuanian: „Pasaka apie šūdvabalį“], “The Dog at the Fair” [Lithuanian: „Rudikis jomarkininks“], “The Clever Dog” [Lithuanian: „Šuo didgalvis“], “The Wolf-Judge” [Lithuanian: „Vilks provininks“]) and the 1st letter written in Lithuanian by Kristijonas Donelaitis. The article also presents the methodology and criteria of identification of the Polonisms in the works of the classic of Lithuanian literature.
