Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the 13th century Prussian personal names from the historical source Preussische Regesten bis zum Ausgange des dreizehnten Jahrhunderts (Prussian registers until the end of the 13th century) in order to reveal the historical context of existence of Prussian personal names. It also discusses the formation of certain personal names and explains their origin as well as the influence of the German language on the change of personal names. The importance of Prussian personal names to the research of Baltic proper names is unquestionable. It should be noted that Prussian (i.e. Baltic) proper names are the earliest recorded facts of the Baltic languages.
