Summary/Abstract: The author describes Władysław Panas’s way he followed as a researcher, starting with his first structural-semiotic works, until his last ones, devoted to Bruno Schulz’s writings. She also reminds the reader of other, equally important spheres of his interest: the role and importance of the Borderland in culture, Polish-Jewish literature, or various works connected with Lublin. According to the author, all these works are characterized by a definite style of thinking typical of Panas from the very beginning. His conviction that reality has the nature of a sign (communicative nature), and the equally important belief that the fundamental hermeneutic procedure, that is interpretation, has a very important role, underlie this style.
