STATISTICAL DESCRIPTION OF MURMANSK FISHERIES OF 1796

Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned with materials of statistical description related to the Barents Sea fisheries. The studied materials were compiled by the official P. Labutkin. These documents allow the coverage of such issues as the history of Murmansk fishing industry, the number of fishing cooperatives, the territorial composition of industrialists, and the increasing number of large ships visiting the coast. The analysis of materials in focus shows that the fisheries were attended mainly by the people from Pomor shore of the White Sea. The fishermen united into small and medium size cooperatives (up to 20 employees).
