Summary/Abstract: In 2013 a text book for students under the title of Blakės. Įvairovė ir pavadinimai (Heteroptera. Variety and Names) by Jonas Rimantas Stonis, Andrius Remeikis and Darius Baužys was published. It describes Heteroptera common in Lithuania and in other countries. The subject of this paper is the Lithuanian names of 45 families and 463 species of Heteroptera. The aim is to synchronically research the ways the names of the families and species in this suborder are formed, to describe syntactic and semantic relations between the main and subordinate elements of two-word names and to establish the most productive ways of name creation. One-word or two-word names in plural, as is usual in entomology, are used for naming families in the Hemiptera order Heteroptera suborder.
