Summary/Abstract: The article examines the relationship between reading and school. The author defines the reading competencies, the targets included in the curricula and the general requests of the baccalaureate themes for the written examination at Romanian language and literature. There are analysed the students’ reading models: school reading, compulsory reading, suplimentary reading, loisir reading, information reading and utility reading.
