The school library between two millenniums

its place in the educational training process

Summary/Abstract: The article establishes the important place of pupils’ information and documentation competencies in the complex educational process set up through the national pre-university curriculum. In the same time, there are presented the specialists in information and documentation in the Romanian pre-university system librarian/publisher/documentalist/ documentalist teacher – with the purpose to underline their educational and training role in creating keycompetencies in the education and training process. The author aims to investigate the school library system in Romania for two decades (1990-2010), establish the professional and educational status of librarian in a pre-university educational unit, as well as the educational role of librarians emphasized both by services and documentation products, as well as through other activities which define the concepts of information science and information literacy.
