Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this part of the article (the previous two parts titled “The fair distribution of goods” [“Sprawiedliwe zaspokajanie potrzeb”] and “Official, planned distribution” [“Urzędowa, planowa dystry‑ bucja”] were published in 2016 in Horyzonty Polityki, vol. 7, no. 18 and 19) is presentation of the social policy as applied science and conscious activity of the present governing authorities in Poland. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The author presents the relations between the social policy and political sciences, other specific public policies, administration, law, sociology and social psychology. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The author puts an emphasis on the constitutional basis of the social policy. He presents the social policy as the art of state governance. He specifies its subject‑matter, describes its content and presents its tasks and social actions. RESEARCH RESULTS: Similarly to the two previous articles focused on the essence of the social policy in the contemporary social policy, the author proposes to include social partners and non‑government organizations in the current social policy. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The author points out that the latest social policy was, during the Second Polish Republic, and still is, after the change of the ruling party in 2015, focused primarily on the notion of social policy as applied science, as a social assistance for a part of the society. He gives an example of the latest social programme – “500 plus”.
