Summary/Abstract: The most significant adverse effects of the technogenic changes in the environment include air pollution by exhaust gases of automobile transport, emissions of pollutants into the air from the road sec¬tor enterprises, petroleum refining, nonferrous metallurgy and energetics. The aim of the article is to study the role and significance of the international legal means of the atmospheric air protection against pollution. Particular attention is paid to the role of international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations in the implementation of international legal protection of the atmospheric air against pollution. The article has analysed the importance of the environmental policy and activities of international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations of a universal scale and at the regional level, that put the problems of integrated environmental protection and development of scientific principles and methods of planning and management of biospheric resources at the forefront. Formation of new eco-legal and ecological-economic approaches to the solution of the issues of international legal regulation of problems of environmental protec-tion, including atmospheric air protection, is noted in the activity of many modern non-governmental organiza-tions, socio-political organizations and movements.Research of the role and importance of international intergovernmental and non-governmental organiza-tions in the implementation of international legal protection of the atmospheric air against pollution has led to the conclusion about the necessity to intensify the international cooperation between countries in this field. If the activities of international intergovernmental organizations are also focused on the problems of legal regulation of environmental protection, the practice of non-governmental organizations is a program of actions in solving the global issues; as it gives a description of the current state of the global problems in the context of new international relations; new economic situation and new priorities in solving global issues, one of which is the protection of the environment
