Summary/Abstract: The article deals with possible influence of Plato’s ontology in the contemporary media philosophy of J. Baudrillard. The author performs a comparative analysis of the ontological concepts of the visible by Plato and the contemporary hyperreality by J. Baudrillard. The author concludes that even if these two conceptions correlate with each other, essential differences are found with respect to the referency of the relationship between the objects and the signs.
