THE RESTORATION OF A 17TH CENTURY PRINT

Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the restoration procedures of a copy of Matei Basarab’s Collection of Laws called Îndreptarea legii, dated to 1652. The text underlines the difficulties as well as the complexity of the restauration works. The undertaken procedures may constitute a model for other restorers as this particular work received a prize at the National Restoration Show Room in 2014 at Craiova. The article also includes meaningful illustration. Its purpose was to present the ways in which this highly valuable volume, from a documentary and heritage point of view, preserved in the Special Collections of the Romanian National Library, regained its functionality.
