THE OLD BOOK STOCK OF ŞCHEII BRAŞOVULUI

Summary/Abstract: The existence of a church library in Șcheii Brașovului can be traced back in time to the 15th century, books being donated by priests, scholars, noblemen, voivodes or locally printed. In 1683 many books and documents disappeared; after that they started to register and catalogue the book stock. The article follows the stages of this activity up to the present, observing the gains and loss of old books, as they result out of comparing the succesive catalogues.
