Summary/Abstract: Zbigniew TomaszczukSpectacular status of photography in the history of photography and cultureTomaszczuk analyzes selected examples of photographs that for variousreasons have acquired icon status. He considered the iconography of thephotographs in the context of symbolism of photographs as well as inthe context of the events shown in those photographs. Spectacularnessrefers here not so much to the spectacleiness of images themselves, butrather to the impression that these photographs may produce and, consequently,affect public opinion.
