Summary/Abstract: The article aims to answer four questions: 1) what constitutes personal identification? 2) what is its connection with the assimilation principle? 3) what are the main form of identification? 4) what is the role of the identification in the cultural evolution? Identification is here understood as a principle of self-creation by which a man realizes what he wants to be. By the assimilation the persons overwhelmed other and by the identification to get under oneself-control. The article deals with 2 fundamental forms of identification: personal and interpersonal, their different role in the culture. It is enter into polemics with the ethical doctrine of E. Levinas, which infinite distance separated I from the Other (autrui), and negate the possibility of interpersonal identification.
