Summary/Abstract: The laureate of National award, sculptor ARÛNAS SAKALAUSKAS is a successor of Gedimas Jakûbonis, the leading Lithuanian monumentalist. Sakalauskas is known as the author of memorials to Antanas Baranauskas in Anykðèiai (1993), Liudvikas Rëza in Juodkrantë (1994), Mykolas Giedraitis and Mikalojus Daukða in Varniai (1999), Liudvikas Rëza in Kaliningrad (2005), Vincas Kudirka in Vilnius (2009). The sculptor admits that creating monuments for the great figures of Lithuanian history and culture gives him great pleasure and a sense to his life.
