The Dynamics of the Dagestan Distribution System in the Post-Soviet Period

Summary/Abstract: The settlement system as a territorial aggregate of populated areas represents one of the most conservative elements in the structure of any society. This is a kind of "skeleton" of territorial-social organisms, the study of which will allow us to assess their real, but also potential strength, health, disease and pathology. Therefore, the identification of regularities and features of the dynamics of settlement means the cognition of the most profound, essential tendencies in the development of society. This article contains the most general socio-geographical information about the features of the structure and dynamics of the system of resettlement of Dagestan in the post-Soviet period, based mainly on the statistics of the last two censuses of the population of 1989 and 2002, as well as the current statistical records for individual years.
