Summary/Abstract: The article considers the fantastic idea of some mythological king of the world and its presentation in medieval and modern literature and modern visual art. The medieval literature is represented by the treatises of Thomas de Cantimpré and Joinville; the books by Ferdinand Ossendowski, Roerich, and James Hilton represent modernity. The movie by Frank Capra and Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis‘s painting Rex represent the examples of modern visualization of the idea.
