Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the transformation of the genre flute concert in the context of the history of Ukrainian composers' creativity of XXI century. During the last decade, the Ukrainian composers show a great interest a flute as an music instrument for solo. Methodology. The research methodology involves an appeal to the works of Ukrainian musicologists as V. Stepurko and M. Cherkashyna-Gubarenko, who have analysed the specifics of I. Scherbakov’s flute concerts. Scientific Novelty. The author is the first who analyses the works, created in the recent years such as the flute concerts of Z. Almashi, O. Bezborodko, O. Serova. It allows the author to identify the trends of musical practice and highlight typological features that show the continuity of Ukrainian national school of composers. Conclusions. The conclusions indicate that the analysis of the flute concerts contributes to understanding of the ways of the genre and the possible timbre transformations of the flute as an instrument for solo. The concerts of the modern composers differ from other concerts by stylistic affiliation, structure and emotional coloring. They demonstrate extensive technical and expressive possibilities of the flute.
