Summary/Abstract: This research attempts the comprehensive analysis of B. Lyatoshynsky's creative personality during his early life period with the goal of biographical reconstruction through the compilation and combination of new information, newly discovered pieces from this period and other archival sources. They considerably update the biographical portrait of the composer's life and creativity during the years of 1910s. Methodology. The research methodology consists of a culturological system approach in conjunction with historic-genetic, comparative methods, scientific-theoretical and musical-cultural analysis. In particular, historical is used for the substantiation of the place and role of the newly discovered sources in reconstruction of B. Lyatoshynsky's creativity during the early period of his life. The sociological helps to determine the role of the environment and its impact on B. Lyatoshynsky's life and work through the years of 1910s. The biographical gives an opportunity to highlight a portrait of the composer. The method of art criticism defines the features of the composing process as the main form of B. Lyatoshynsky's professional activities. Scientific Novelty. The scientific novelty of this work is to expanse of views about B. Lyatoshynsky's biography, by incorporating the previously little known archival sources. Such research of this type is aimed at analysing of the nature of the famous Ukrainian composer's creativity. All in all, the 1910s define the further development of B. Lyatoshynsky's creative method in terms of aesthetic, style and genre features of his compositional heritage. Conclusions. A historiographical excursion into the early period of the composer's life and work changes our idea about the nature of the creativity of the famous Ukrainian modernist. Social factors, analyzed based on archival sources (family, teachers, friends), contributed to B. Lyatoshynsky's artistic model of existence. In this case, it is obviously impossible to answer to the question whether the artist world would know a composer B. Lyatoshynsky, if he had been born in a different family, developed his abilities in a different social environment, or had been raised with different humanistic values and ideals.
