Summary/Abstract: The Orthodox church from Vadu Crisului dedicated to the archangels Michael and Gabriel demonstrates a certain artistic beauty through its paintings and inner sculptures. The church that we see today was finished in the year 1790 and first belonged to the Greek-Catholic Church. The manner in which the paintings send religious messages to the onlooker clearly indicates a tie with Eastern traditions and Byzantine art. The iconostas is was brought from the cathedral in Oradea and it stands out through its distinct wooden sculptures, although a few changes had to be made so that it would fit inside the church. The artistic value of this edifice demonstrates Romanian contributions to modern central European art and forming a unique and beautiful style specific to the customs and traditions of the local community.
