Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is the analysis of the transformation of leisure and leisure practices in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, where the indicators of popular value orientations of the population are the closest to those in Ukraine - in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. The goal is achieved by highlighting the following aspects of the problem: examining the state of scientific development of the leisure problem in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, identifying trends in the development of leisure in a certain group of countries; to find out the components of leisure activities in these countries from the point of view of the state cultural policy. Methodology. The methodology of the research consists in applying the general scientific principle of objectivity and the historical, analytical, culturological and comparative methods in studying scientific approaches to leisure practices and their coverage in the scientific literature. The analysis of transit-transformation processes in the public sphere of these countries, accompanied by value changes, and a comparison of the main indicators and trends in the development of the cultural and recreational sphere are done. Scientific Novelty. The scientific novelty of the research is to develop a holistic vision of the dynamics of the development of cultural and recreational activities in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe by examining changes in the value orientations of societies and actualizing the best practices of these countries in the sphere of cultural and recreational activities in the conditions of the Ukrainian cultural environment. Conclusions. The conducted analysis of the studies allows us to conclude that the value changes, caused by the transformation processes in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, have contributed to the emergence of new forms and types of leisure, the change of infrastructures of cultural institutions. Each country of Central and Eastern Europe has its own specifics in relation to leisure and the development of recreational practices. So, in particular, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia are focused on the development of the humanitarian sector of leisure and convergence of this sphere with the educational sector. Hungary is distinguished by its approach to leisure, primarily as an industry, has a commercial effect and contributes to the health and cultural revival of society as a whole. At the same time, all presented approaches merit further research, as well as adaptation and application in Ukraine.
