THE THEME OF WAR IN ORAL LITERATURE

Summary/Abstract: The theme of war in the oral prose tradition of Bosniaks is analyzed in this paper. The focus of the paper has been to reveal and analyze stories of different genres of oral prose in which as the leitmotif one finds a brave young woman-warrior disguised in man’s clothes. Comparing examples recorded in the area where Bosniaks live, one tries to find similarities and differences in the way they form the narration. Similar instances that belong to oral poetry have also been taken into consideration.
