Summary/Abstract: The first six books of Tacitus’ Annals are often named “tragedy of Tiberius”. The development of the emperor’s tragic hero is undoubtedly the main theme of the work, nonetheless Tiberius is not the only actor present on the scene. Parallel to the emperor’s plot there is unwound the thread of Germanicus’ house: conflict between the Julian and the Claudian parts of the ruling dynasty never ceases. The main heroine of the conflict, apart from Tiberius himself and Germanicus, is Agrippina the Elder, granddaughter of divine Augustus, daughter of Julia and Marcus Agrippa.
