Summary/Abstract: The present paper elaborates on the Iranian women’s movements starting from the earliest documented records in the early twentieth century when Iranian women acted as a major support for their male counterparts during the years leading to the constitutional revolution in Iran. It further follows women activists through the Pahlavi Era and later, before and after the Islamic Revolution of Iran. The paper then explains how the tension between modernity and tradition has affected Iranian women and their approaches towards women’s issues. Lastly, the weaknesses and the achievements of the Iranian women’s movement are briefly elaborated on
