Summary/Abstract: The research of the daily movement of the countryside youth towards towns and the movements of schoolchildren in the same context, have a multiple importance for the science and different areas of the social structure (political affairs, planning etc.). Svilajnac, in that sense represents the explicit and the typical example, being a small county center (in 2002 – 9.395 inhabitants), with a rural background and 493 pupils moving on daily basis from 33 surrounding villages into that town. Our land research program shows that most of those pupils (380 migrants or 77,80%) do not want to replace their rural place of living with any other settlement. This fact represents a valuable and useful knowledge which can be used in all phases of the creation of programming and planning of rural settlements and their surroundings. It is obvious that the knowledge can be also used to foresee the future goals of the youth to choose the place of living, which, in broader sense can be taken as the starting point to explain and understand the future development of the rural and, in connection with it, the urban settlement, too.
