Summary/Abstract: In the course of the Russian national culture development, two symbols of feminine imagery became prevalent. The symbol of eternal femininity embodies the elements of ancient Russian world outlook: an aesthetic erotized cosmic force, which is responsible for the shaping of human existence. Another symbol is the native motherland. During the lifetime of Nikolai Berdyaev, the two symbols became prevailing and gained distinctive forms of expression in both social and creative fields. Berdyaev viewed this cultural phenomenon with some cautiousness. A deeper study of Berdyaev‘s works reveals that he perceives existence from aesthetic point of view. He speaks of two cosmic principles: male (rational) and female (irrational), which need harmoniously interact in order to give the historical and metaphysical sense and purpose to human life.
