Summary/Abstract: This article reinterprets legends and literary-historical disputes having accrued around Mickiewicz. The transformation of the Mickiewicz of the former half of 19th century into the one of posterity is shown, along with contexts (including post-modern ones) facilitating re-comprehension of the basic categories of the poet’s output.
