Summary/Abstract: The proposed ‘nineteenth-century cultural model’ [Polish, ‘dziewiętnastowieczność’] should be understood as a peculiar ‘ideal type’, not actualised in any discursive practice (deduced from a heterogenic textual space), or, as a certain neo-Hegelian type, showing off what is essential, paradigmatic, or model in a given set or group of phenomena. In a quest for traces of manifestation of (a) 19th-century cultural awareness, the present article attempted at embracing ideas propagated by a few generations of creative artists as well as those reconstructed on an ex-post basis, resulting from a scholarly afterthought on modernity.
