Summary/Abstract: The book by Izabela Jarosińska “Non-sentimental education. About the education of girls of various statuses in the nineteenth century” (“Edukacja nie-sentymentalna. O kształceniu dziewcząt różnych stanów w XIX Wieku”, Warszawa 2016) is the first volume of a series published by PAN Institute of Literary Research, titled “New Romantic Library” edited by Marta Zielińska. It refers to the “Romantic Library”, edited by Maria Janion in the years 1978–1997. A brief history of the nineteenth century education of girls appears in the introduction and it brings back the most important educational initiatives in three partitions and abroad. This valuable anthology consists of the following two parts capturing fundamental aspects of girls’ education in the nineteenth century: “At home and At pension boarding school”.
