Summary/Abstract: Theory of evolution of society, which comprises the concepts of Tom Aquinas and the ideas of Hegel, published by Catholic intellectual S. Šultė became the original Lithuanian cultural theory in the beginning of 20th century. This theory was reaction to the statement of socialists that society can only be changed by revolution. On the contrary, Šultė proposes that society itself evolves towards progress as guided by internal logic. The ultimate purpose of evolution (divine truth) is implemented only by reaching harmony in all fields of human life (cultural, social and economical spheres) and the evolution is closely related to the moral progress of humanity.
