Summary/Abstract: The article deals with family as the environment for the development of individual and social maturity. The major thesis is: the family is the source of social renewing while it has been nourished by the individual’s existential aspirations. The minor theses are: when the cultural tradition is transferred to the family, it acquires irreversible changes; family is the place for the forming of the individual’s existential viewing; the temporality of family covers both its historicity and temporal existence; family policy mirrors the relationship between the public state space and the private family space; the family’s environment of cultural narration can be destroyed by individual existential narration. So, the family is treated both as a community’s model and as an anti-community. It provides the individual creative impulses for social development.
