Summary/Abstract: Departing from the suggestions of an“ephemeris” published by Hortensia Papa-dat-Bengescu in 1930, I approach here a mannerof capturing the collector’s gestures that looksrather uncommon. Consecrated as one of thegreatest writers of the Interbellum Roma-nian literature, Hortensia Papadat-Bengescuimagines the act of collecting as something re-garding chiefly the accumulation of petty thingsand ideas. In fact, her short narrative introducesan ethics of collecting that is defined throughrecoiling and, paradoxically, through lack of pos-session. By turning back to this unknown text,we aim at discovering the profound implicationsof such circumstantial works on Hortensia Papa-dat-Bengescu’s more consecrated fiction.
