Summary/Abstract: The article examines the reality and strategy of EU humanitarian sciences and studies in Lithuania. Humanitarian sciences fulfill an important role in strengthening economic welfare, for the development of the economy is inseparable from the culture, i.e., language, traditions, customs, religion, art and science. Because of the new 2004 priorities in EU science politics, the strategy of the development of humanitarian and social sciences in Lithuania has been elaborated. The new strategy underlines the necessity for fundamental and applied researches in these sciences as well as their implementation in the educational process. Insufficient collaboration of universities and economical subjects limits the functioning of humanitarian services and stimulates a consumerist approach and commercialization of science. The dynamic social and economic changes necessitate the further integration of humanitarian, technological sciences and business. A university studies the developments of social and economic life and the humanization of society. A university also applies the results by elaborating programs of interdisciplinary studies
