Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes various aspects of the creative work of Théo Tobiasse (1927), the famous Litvak artist of the end of the 20th century. The articles shows: the work’s links with the artistic traditions of Lithuanian Jews, discusses its sources, aesthetic attitudes, peculiarities of style, and relation to the masterpieces of the century. The article tries to show especially: the versatility of Tobiasse’s creative activity, the peculiarities and richness of his system of images, his formal aspects, and his means of artistic expression. Some of Tobiasse’s paintings, sculptures, graphics, stained-glass works and other pieces of fine art are discussed in more detail.
