Summary/Abstract: Increasing consumer awareness of food safety and environmental protection in recent years contributed to the increase in organic agriculture production. Organic production should be seen as a part of sustainable agro system, which provides an alternative to traditional agricultural production. The European Union has designated the sustainability of agriculture while protecting the natural environment as a main objective of the present Common Agricultural Policy of the Union. Serbia has clearly showed that promotes the harmonization of this area with the EU regulations legislating a new law in this area.
