Summary/Abstract: The world today is no longer bipolar or multipolar; it is interdependent and in reality we can say that it is a-polar. In this world as it is, while Europe has lost some of its influence on a global scale due to its lower economic competitiveness and military weakness, it still has an important role to play. Within the European Union, Croatia represents only 1.26% of the territory, 0.86% of the population and 0.33% of the GDP. But no power is able to decide alone in the face of international crises and the great challenges of the planet. This is why the UN Security Council is paralyzed and is no longer able to find effective and rapid solutions for Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, Afghanistan without forget the migratory phenomena and the threats linked to global warming.
